What we've been up to . . .

Camping with 7 other families out in the wild.... well without power or running water but there was an outhouse within 15 feet :)

Sprinkler time in the back yardplaying in the boxes from our new patio set :)
Getting the BEST frozen custard ever on a warm summer day
the end of soccer season and maybe for good.
visiting the state capital and learning a bit about our 16th president
summer programs at the library
The boys doing so practice writing... gotta keep those brains from getting mushy
Hitting the splash pad with some friends
having civil war battles in the living room
eating cupcakes around a campfire.

and it's only July 1st :) can't wait to see what we do this weekend!

Indoor Soccer

I know I haven't posted much about indoor soccer this year. There were a lot of issues this winter with soccer, needless to say Tim and I were not happy with the Park District or the team Hayden was put on, but tried to make the best of it anyway.
He was on the White Tigers. He did seem to have fun and enjoy himself. Towards the end he finally got in there and started being more aggressive with the ball and almost scored a few goals, when the coach let him play. Opps I'm regressing again. :) His friend from class was on the team so that was nice.
This past Sat was the last game and afterwords they had a pizza party and all received trophys and certificates. Hayden was very proud and we were proud of him for trying his best and sticking it out!(yes I know the picture looks funny, its been edited)

Soccer is over

This season has come to a close and not for lack of trying but the team went win-less. Tim tried his best to motivate the team and the kids did improve they just never had a lucky day. Here they are enjoying a pizza party thrown by the district. Most of the team and their trophy's.
Coach and son.
Jax getting in on the pizza as well. :-)

Spring Soccer

Last 3 games of the season went off with only 1 rain delay. The kids really grew as a team and as players. I think it was 2 wins, 1 loss, and they really tried hard during that loss. Tim had a great team and a great season. So much so, he's decided to keep coaching next season in the older league.
Here's Hayden showing off that fancy footwork he learned.Kicking one in from the corner
Hayden, Cody and Noah. Now I know what your thinking... Hayden is a giant.... well these two just happen to be shorter than average. All 3 have known each other for a few years now.

Soccer

Last game was a great game! We played a team that was tough and skilled. We were holding our own till the very end and lost 2-1. So close. . .
The kids were disappointed but really seemed to enjoy themselves and get into the game. I think the parents did to with all our yelling and cheering.
We also got Hayden's 2009 soccer pictures back. Since Tim is coach he was allowed to get a coach's picture with Hayden. I think it turned out GREAT!
Here's the star! Spring 2009 Soccer.
We were given a break over Memorial Day weekend since the older leagues have to hold their tournaments. So next Saturday it's back to the game for only 3 weeks left.

Monsters of the Midway

or at least that is what the Hammerheads are becoming know as.
Last week we won 10-1. Tim had to enforce the slaughter rule after 6 goals.
This week we won 8-1, with slaughter rule again. There just seems to be no stopping the team this season. We really do have some big and talented kids on the team. Sometimes they need to be held back just so the other kids get a chance.

Hayden was excited that they won and that he was able to attend the game this week.

Spring Soccer

I've been meaning to post about soccer but things have been hectic around here.
Hayden is again on the Hammerheads with Tim leading the way. The team seems really put together this season. We have some strong returning players.
The first game was 2 weeks ago where the team won 4-1.
Last weekend we were defeated 4-3. These pictures were taken last weekend.

It looks like this weekend will be a wash for Hayden because he has this wonderful cold that is going around. (Not the swine flu don't worry.) Jax was nice enough to share it with Hayden and I. My Dad has also reported a sore throat and I'm sure Tim and my Mom are not far behind. Let's just hope they don't close Hayden's school like a few others in the area and that everyone feels better because karate tournament is next weekend!!

Indoor Soccer

This 2009 indoor season has come to a close. The Orange team did very very well. I think our record was 5-1-2. That's win-tie-losses. The last game was Hayden's best for he scored 2 goals all on his own and the team won 8-0. Hayden improved so much this season. He has the right idea and some of the skills down. The Coaches were the best! Thanks Coach Laurie and Coach Lance!!They had a party where everyone got their trophies. At the rate he is going we're going to have to build him another shelf. :) We can't wait for Spring outdoor to start in just a few weeks with Tim coaching again.

Indoor Soccer

Hayden Orange Team lost today but it was only 2-1. They did really well and are even learning to start passing. It's amazing what a difference a year makes.
Hayden even tried goalie today and did really well, when he was paying attention. :)

Indoor Soccer

Hayden started Indoor soccer a few weeks ago. He seems to really enjoy it. Plus he has a lot of friends on his team from pre-school or kindergarten. He has gotten better since last Fall too.
The scores goes as follows.
1st game: 5-1 we won
2nd game: 4-2 we won
3rd game 3-3 tie.
So far so good.... but all that really matters is they have fun and burn off some energy.
Here's Hayden showing off some footwork. And here's our boy just showing off. :D

End of the season

Hayden's soccer team had a pizza/trophy party this past weekend. He really had a lot of fun and wants to play again next year. Nice thing about that is Tim is coaching and they will be the same team in the Spring. Same uniforms and everything.
So look for indoor soccer to start end of January sometime and Spring season to start in April.

Tigersharks - 4, Hammerheads - 4

Last game of the season, YEAH! It was getting a bit cold out there.

The kids have come a long way. Most of them even know which direction to kick the ball :-)
The game tied 4-4 and we had Hayden to thank for 2 of those goals! WooHoo!
His friend Noah scored one of the other goals.

Now it's decision time, Hayden wants to play baseball AND soccer but next spring he will have to decide on one. We can't do both and karate. Tim and I are only 2 people :)

Hammerheads -0, Tigersharks - 2

It was a freezing game where 1/3 of the team didn't show up. Tim said they tried their best and even had quite a few attempts at goal. The other teams defense was just really good.
One more game to go, and it's forecasted to be warm next weekend... whew!

Hammerheads 0 - Barracudas 3

Another good game this morning with lots of strong kicks and good saves. It just wasn't their day.
Last game for 2 weeks, since tournament for the older leagues is next week.

Hammerheads 0-2

Hayden's soccer game last week was a good one. Lots of good saves and teamwork. They didn't win but they worked as a team and did a good job.
Here's Hayden making his best attempt to make a goal.
It was a cold morning so the spectators were bundled up. Here's Jax enjoying the game.

0- 2 Hammerhead loss

It was a good loss though. . . Hayden's team is really trying and playing well. Hayden had some good ball handling and tried his best. The other team was just better.
Hayden and his good friend Noah. They've known each other for 3 years now.
Hayden and Coach Tim (aka Dad) LOL
Only 4 more games left in the season and I have a feeling that the season is about to get a lot colder. (they're forecasting 60` high on Sat :) Sweatshirt and leggings time :-)

Hammerheads- 5, Stingrays - 3

I know I have failed to mention Hayden's soccer season so far which doesn't mean it's been a stinker. (well it has but at 5 years old that's not the point) We've only played 3 games so far because of the flooding last week.
But this morning the Hammerheads came together as a team. They played well... everyone went in the correct direction, (for the most part) and seemed to have fun.
Even Hayden.
There were no temper tantrums to speak of and he was enjoying himself. Up until now we've had problems since Tim is the coach. Hayden feels his Daddy should let him play where 'he' wants to play.
Not the case, in this lifetime or the next.

But today our son even scored two goals!

Hopefully this is a turning point for this young team and more wins will follow because even at 5 years old they know winning is more fun. But the point is they acted like a team. Tim is finally getting the hang of this coaching thing. :-)

Fall Season is here..

Soccer started this weekend and Hayden is now proudly a Hammerhead and Tim is their fearless leader.(aka coach Tim) Well after seeing the kids play this weekend I think there is now fear... LOL!
The first game was 0-4, Hammerhead loss. I think 2 of those goals were scored by our team in our net! There are only 3 kids on the team that have played before and 3 kids that are not even 4 years old yet. So there is a lot of learning for all of them to do. Hopefully they both enjoy the season.

Dolphins - 3, Sailfish -2

Seems like we're on a winning streak!
Hayden has really improved since the beginning of this season. He actually takes the ball in the right direction and can control it, somewhat. Now if he would just stay on his feet it would be a whole lot better.

They are making up the missed game next Sat so one more weekend of soccer to go, then it's on to the fall season!!

(Jax had a good morning too :)

Dolphins -3, Hammerheads -2

Another beautiful, warm, sunny day. It was perfect for soccer!
Hayden did well today and only fell 5 times that I saw and his team really looked like a team. I guess that figures since next week is the last game. I don't know if we make-up that first canceled game.
Today was special because Hayden's godmother, Kris, and her husband , Justin, were in town and came to his game. It was awesome because they live in TX, very far to pop in for a game, ya know? After the game we went out to lunch to visit. (It was great to spend some time with Kris and Justin since we haven't seen them in almost 2 years and they had never met Jax.)

Bittersweet is his good friends Noah and Brandon were on the Hammerheads but it was great to see them!
