Growing up way to fast...
I think he's mere days away from being a teenager. * snif snif*
5 Months Old
Jaxson is 5 months old today. He's roughly 15lbs. but since we don't see the doctor till the end of July we won't know for sure.
His newest tricks are chewing on his toes and sitting up pretty well, when sat down. He has yet to sit up on his own, using his own muscles. He's much better about playing on the floor but still prefers to be in his jumper or being held standing up.
He's just the happiest baby we've ever seen... always smiling or laughing. Really!
We started cereal as posted below and he's doing much better with it. After the first few gags I think he really likes getting real food. Now we have to wait till 6 months old to try the "good stuff" (ie veggies and fruit)
** On a side note Hayden saw I was letting everyone know how big Jax was so he went and weighed himself. He wants to let everyone know he's 64lbs. and 4'1". And now all of you remember he's only 5!! He's going to pass Joann up in height in a year. :) **
Flyers Game
We took Tim to the Flyers Game last night. His belated Father's Day gift. It was a lot of fun and I think it wasn't till the 6th inning that Hayden said, "I'm bored" not bad for him :)
Jaxson enjoyed his first baseball game but it was a very very late night, for both the kids.
Hayden enjoyed a ballpark favorite, a Bomb Pop :)
As I said it was a very long night for the babe.
Flyers also lost 5-3 but it was an entertaining game.
Huh?
I don't think Hayden was following this conversation because in the middle he asked us with a puzzled look on his face,
"Who's Jusbornfirst?"
After Tim and I stopped laughing I said it slower...
"YOU were born first... "
just another funny out of the mind of a 5 year old.
Fish Lake Beach
Hayden had a blast in the pool but I believe he's part fish so why wouldn't he? Jax didn't seem to like his first swim. The baby pool was ruff on his feet and the big pool was too cold. Ella had a great time playing with her Splash balls.
Jax was much happier all snuggled up in the towel.
We had a nice lunch were the youngins were able to hang out a bit, when not napping or eating. I think Holly is determined to be bigger than Jax next time we see them. :)
Ella and Hayden went to the park where we spent sooooo much time at. At least they are the right age to be there. :)
While the youngest kids slept Lisa and I took Hayden to the beach to play a bit. The Mommie said, " Hayden don't get wet. Hayden don't get wet. Hayden don't get wet. Darn, he got wet!"
At least I thought enough ahead to bring 2 sets of clothes :)
It was so awesome being back there with our kids. The campground has changed so much. Bigger, newer trailers on the lots and all new faces. But other things like the parks and the movie theater, and the beach have all stayed the same.
But for some reason it all seems much smaller. . .
OUCH!
On the way to meet Lisa, the girls, and her parents at Fish Lake some guy hit me from behind. The car is fine and receiving a new bumper thanks to his insurance. But what rattled me most is the kids were in the car!! I went a little "Mommy" ballistic on the guy until I checked over the kids and they were fine. Hayden was scared and Jax looked around like, "what happened?"
The other guy got a ticket and a really banged up front. Overall not the best start to my day but the kids were fine, the car and be fixed and the guy had insurance. (whew) At least Hayden now knows the importance of wearing his seatbelt!

First real food
Tim was home so we scooped out some rice cereal and tried it.
Went over okay...not great but hey, he has to get the hang of this first.
After a few bites he was opening his mouth like a little bird wanting more but I just don't think it was fast enough. He started to get impatient that he had to work at eating it and the food wasn't in his belly quickly, like his bottle.
As you can see he was really pleased with himself that he finally got something off the table like his brother and Mommy and Daddy. :)
Houston, we have found the toes

Water Fun
Jax enjoyed himself too...hanging out under the umbrella and chewing on his favorite toy cow. This is where I noticed he was sitting on his own. Not leaning against my leg or the stroller....just sitting there chewing away. He sat completely by himself for a good 2-3 minutes. I was so proud! We think he's by-passing the whole rolling thing and will go right to walking :) He just has places to go.
After all that sitting he was tired out and slept on the blanket for an hour while Hayden ran stupid. Both the boys were wiped out from all the fresh air and sun and Mommie was nicely sunburned :)

Dolphins - 0, Starfish -4
It was perfect weather and there was a fun anthill on our side of the field that all the kids kept looking at :) I believe there was also a great underwear contest to see who had the coolest superhero on their tush :)
And I wonder why we lost?

And the Putz of the Year Award goes to...
Only my darling can cut his finger so severely that he requires almost 4 hours in the ER and 6 stitches, all because he cut his thumb on a glass while washing dishes. :)
Let's just say when Tim does something, he does something right!
All is well now but sore and he officially got out of dish duty (among other chores) for at least a week. I think that was his master plan...I could of thought of less painful and expensive ways to go about it though.
Hayden's response this morning when Tim unwrapped it was "GROSS!"
He's not completely handicapped or immobile but let's just say showering and writing and typing are a challenge.
So any tea and sympathy you can toss his way he would greatly appreciate it :)
*and thanks to my parents who rushed over to watch the kids*

Our lone strawberry...
This is Hayden and his friend Trystan. They love to have a good time together getting rowdy, rough, and laughing it up. So did Sabrina, Dan, Tim and I worry when we let them play outside while we finished dinner?
No.
That was until I could see my son pouring buckets of sand over his and Trystan's head. :O
Tim runs out there to stop it but the damage is done. The boys are covered in sand from head to toe and "other" places.
Hayden tells us they were playing Sandman. (slapping a hand to my forehead) That is what we get for letting him watch Spider-man 3 last night.
The damage to my tub is below... it took 3 scrubbings to get all the sand out of Hayden's hair and another 2 to clean my tub!
I guess boys will be boys.
a mistaken identity
" Palpatine! Palpatine!" ( the name of the emperor in Star Wars)
I couldn't figure out what he was talking about since we were in the car... then I see
"Palatine Road" sign.
I laugh quietly and explain the difference in the words and that he was very close; close but no bozo button!
Man my boy is just getting too darn smart for his own good.

Dolphins - 3, Sailfish -2
Hayden has really improved since the beginning of this season. He actually takes the ball in the right direction and can control it, somewhat. Now if he would just stay on his feet it would be a whole lot better.
They are making up the missed game next Sat so one more weekend of soccer to go, then it's on to the fall season!!
(Jax had a good morning too :)

Dolphins -3, Hammerheads -2
Hayden did well today and only fell 5 times that I saw and his team really looked like a team. I guess that figures since next week is the last game. I don't know if we make-up that first canceled game.
Today was special because Hayden's godmother, Kris, and her husband , Justin, were in town and came to his game. It was awesome because they live in TX, very far to pop in for a game, ya know? After the game we went out to lunch to visit. (It was great to spend some time with Kris and Justin since we haven't seen them in almost 2 years and they had never met Jax.)
Bittersweet is his good friends Noah and Brandon were on the Hammerheads but it was great to see them!
The other member of our family
He has the honor of being the only self-grooming cat I know of.
He was quite content after being combed....his winter coat is coming off in sheets
He's the first member of our family. Tim and I adopted him the spring before we got married so he's been with us for 9 years!
He's become an old man and very demanding for food but we still love him!
