Teaching the young dog a new trick

Last night Hayden saw his friend across the street riding her bike, without training wheels. He gets it in his head that he wanted to start trying the learn to ride his bike without training wheels...right then. So we figured strike while he's willing. The first few tries were not so good but after a good 30 min he was really getting the hang of it. This afternoon we tried again but tempers were hot so the bike got parked. Well tonight after dinner he wanted to try again...much better today. He'd go about 15feet before freaking out or falling. He's funny too. He'll whine and complain that it's hard or he needs too much practice but the minute you tell him to park the bike its, "no Mom one more try." He needs to work on his steering as well. . .
As he said, "the bush jumped out at me!"
He's doing really great but there is more work to be done... and once he learns I promised him that we would tune up our bikes so we could all go for a ride and buy a trailer for Jax. Better get going on that :)

Way to go Hayden! :) Riding bikes is great fun. Pa said when you can ride better he will get out his bike and take you for a ride on the bike trails. You will have great fun riding with your friends!

That's just awesome that he's getting the hang of riding without training wheels. If we want that to happen around here we'll have to purchase yet another bike. Gabby is just so dang small that the one we've got without training wheels is still way too big for her.
